Police: Kohl's Thief Had Firearm Without Permit to Carry
After being caught for shoplifting by Kohl's loss prevention staff, Jabiel Tirado of Bethlehem admitted to having a handgun, according to police.
A Bethlehem man is in Northampton County Prison after he admitted to having a handgun -- he did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon -- when he was detained by loss prevention staff at for shoplifting, according to .
On Jan. 9, police say, Jabiel Tirado, 23, of the 800 block of Ontario Street allegedly tried to steal $52 worth of jewelry from the Kohl's in .
When loss prevention staff brought Tirado to a back office, according to police, he admitted to having a handgun. The gun was then secured by Kohl's staff.

Tirado was arraigned before and charged with retail theft and possession of a firearm without a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
He was sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
