Police: Easton Man had 130 Heroin Packets in Shoe

An Easton man arrested for public drunkenness outside a movie theater was found to be in possession of 140 packets of heroin -- 130 of which were found with three syringes inside a Nike shoe, according to court records.

Martin Deemer Jr., 21, of the 800 block of W. Milton St., was arraigned Tuesday via video conference from Northampton County Prison where he was already being held on unrelated drug charges. 

were called Friday to the in the Northampton Crossings shopping center for a report of people causing a disturbance, according to court records.

Police located a male, later identified as Deemer, standing outside the theater. In addition to being unsteady on his feet, according to court records, he had glassy eyes, constricted pupils and slow speech. 

According to court records, Deemer provided officers with a fake Vermont driver’s license, which had Deemer’s real name on it, but a birth date that aged him two years.

When police were notified of an outstanding warrant out of Palmer Township, Deemer was handcuffed and searched. Police found a pill bottle that contained 10 packets, which field-tested positive for heroin, and $292 in cash, according to court records. 

Police then searched Deemer’s car, which was parked in the movie theater’s parking lot with the driver’s side door open.

Items recovered from Deemer’s green Ford Taurus include: 

• 130 packets of heroin and 3 syringes inside a black Nike shoe
• Burnt marijuana cigar
• Glass smoking device with burnt residue

Deemer was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness and giving false identification to law enforcement authorities.

Bail was set at $10,000 with a 10 percent option. For drug charges that stem from an October arrest in Palmer Township, bail was set at 10 percent of $40,000.

A preliminary hearing date is scheduled for July 19 before in Lower Nazareth Township.
