Police: Driver Perplexed by Car's Flip

Douglas Trinkley, of Bath, was allegedly driving drunk when he struck a parked pickup truck -- flipping his car -- on the 200 block of Mauch Chunk Street in Nazareth Friday night.

When asked by a officer which direction their vehicle was traveling before it struck a parked pickup truck and flipped onto its roof, two Bath men pointed in opposite directions, police say.

Charges of driving under the influence and careless driving will be filed against Douglas Trinkley, 33, pending results from the Easton DUI Center.

According to a breaking news alert, Trinkley was treated for a head injury. There was also a passenger, Jason Milburn, 30.

The accident occurred just before midnight this past Friday on the 200 block of Mauch Chunk Street.

According to police, Trinkley told Officer Steven Lindstedt that he was driving down the road, when suddenly, the 2004 Chrysler he was driving flipped over and onto its roof.

Milburn “concurred,” an incident investigation report says.

Nearby, Lindstedt spotted a white 2003 pickup truck, which was parked on Mauch Chunk, that had sustained damage.

When asked which direction the vehicle was traveling, the men pointed in opposite directions, the report says.

It was apparent to Lindstedt that both men were under the influence of alcohol. Trinkley, however, stated that he and Milburn had gone out to eat and consumed only two drinks.

Trinkley agreed to a portable breath test, which showed positive results for alcohol, according to police. He was then placed under arrest for DUI.
