Police Blotter: Bucks County Man Arrested for Allegedly Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance in Nazareth

A Bucks County man almost hits a Nazareth police cruiser and an Easton woman trades a stolen toy for a microwave.

After almost hitting a police cruiser while driving down S. Broad Street in Nazareth early on Feb. 27, a Perkasie man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and later faced other charges, police said.

Police say Craig Lokay, 53, crossed the double yellow line about 1:40 a.m., causing Officer Peter Dewey to swerve to miss hitting Lokay.

The officer immediately turned around and followed Lokay, records say, and noticed the man cross the yellow line again on Belvidere Street, at which time the officer pulled Lokay over.

Lokay was cooperative and admitted to having cocaine on him and drug paraphernalia in a bag on the passenger seat.

Lokay was ordered to perform field sobriety tests and tested negative for alcohol.

After being taken to the Northampton County DUI Center in Easton for processing, Lokay was turned over to the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department for an outstanding narcotics warrant.

Pending lab tests, Lokay will be charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance, drugs, device or cosmetic; possession or distribution of a small amount of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; careless driving; and driving on the right side of the roadway.

An Easton woman will be charged with theft by deception after she allegedly returned a stolen toy at in Lower Nazareth Township and used the money to purchase a microwave, according to police.

Police say Eugenia Walsh, 60, was observed by Wal-Mart security on Feb. 26 walking around with an empty store shopping bag.

According to police, Walsh selected a toy and a microwave.  She then allegedly went to Customer Service, returned the toy for cash, and used the money to purchase the microwave.

The value of the theft is estimated at $99.16, according to police.

Walsh will be charged with misdemeanor theft by deception and will be arraigned before District Judge Joseph Barner, according to police.
