Matt Antonucci was sworn in as a officer by District Judge James Narlesky on Oct. 12.

After six years of schooling, it was a proud moment for Antonucci's parents.

As Antonucci's father, Dan, pinned a Colonial Regional Police badge onto his son's uniform, he made sure his son knew just how proud he was.

"When I didn't think you could make me prouder... Matt, you topped it," the elder Antonucci said, adding, "Let me rephrase that -- we are proud of you."

Carol Lynn, Antonucci's mother, stood close by and assisted her husband with the pesky badge that isn't easy to put in place.

Antonucci hails from Broomall, Delaware County, where he attended Marple Newtown High School before heading to East Stroudsburg University.

The new patrolman earned his bachelor's degree in sociology with a concentration in criminal justice.

Antonucci is no stranger to the Colonial Regional Police Department -- he was an intern at the department for three months while at ESU.

Delaware County Community College’s Municipal Police Academy was the next step for Antonucci, who graduated in December 2009.

From February 2010 to September 2011, Antonucci was an officer with the Clifton Heights Police Department, also in Delaware County.

Antonucci was hired by Colonial Regional Police earlier this month. He will be a patrolman also certified for bicycle patrol.
