Nazareth Woman Choked Child, Police Say

Lauren Ruppert was charged in an assault case over the weekend.

A Nazareth woman has been charged in an alleged assault that took place in her home over the weekend.

Lauren Ruppert, 28, of East Walnut Street, was charged with simple assault after police were called to her home in which she allegedly roughed up her partner and choked her child, court records say.

Nazareth Police Officer Eric Schwab, with help from Officer Stephen Schleig, found Dustin M. Flyte with a large red mark on his right cheek and scratches on his right neck, court records say.

Flyte told police that Ruppert allegedly attacked him in the kitchen and then again at the front door, hitting him in the face with both hands.

Ruppert also grabbed the couple's 5-year-old son by the neck and bruises were evident on him, court records stated.

In an interview with police, the child said that his mother choked him and "threw things at Daddy."

Police said Ruppert and Flyte had both consumed alcohol, court records say.

Ruppert was arraigned in the Sunday incident before District Judge Jacqueline Taschner.
