Nazareth Man Accused of Assaulting Pregnant Girlfriend

Ian Garren, 32, allegedly threw a phone and kicked his girlfriend, who is pregnant with his child, during a verbal argument.

A Nazareth man is facing assault and harassment charges after he allegedly threw a phone and kicked his girlfriend, who is pregnant with his child, according to police.

Ian Garren, 32, of the 300 block of S. Main Street, is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.

On April 7 around 3:31 p.m., according to a criminal complaint, Officer Fred Lahovski responded to the 200 block of S. Main Street for a report of a man punching a pregnant woman.

The victim told Lahovski that her boyfriend -- and the father of the child she is carrying -- threw a phone at her. The phone hit the victim, but the criminal complaint does not say where on the body the victim was struck.

The victim also said her boyfriend -- later identified at Garren -- kicked her in the leg during a verbal argument.

Lahovski “observed physical signs of injury to the left leg of [the victim].”

Garren was arraigned before on-call District Judge Douglas Schlegel of Wind Gap and charged with one count each of simple assault – attempt, simple assault – attempt by menace, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Garren’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on April 16 at office.
