UPDATE: Nazareth Grad Killed in Chester County Pedestrian Accident

Joseph M. Pietroforte, a 2010 graduate of Nazareth Area High School, was struck by a vehicle and killed Monday night in West Goshen Township, Chester County.

A 21-year-old Nazareth man was killed Monday night in a pedestrian accident in West Goshen Township, Chester County.

Joseph M. Pietroforte, a 2010 graduate of Nazareth Area High School, was struck by a vehicle and killed in the 600 block of S. Bolmar Street, according to the West Goshen Township Police Department.

Police said William Eckel, 80, of Glen Mills, Delaware County, struck the West Chester University student around 5:18 p.m. Monday. Pietroforte was walking to his job at a nearby trucking company, the Daily Local News reports.

The accident is under investigation. Eckel, who was not injured, has been cooperative, according to police.

Pietroforte celebrated his 21st birthday on Saturday. According to his Facebook page, some of which is public, he was a junior at West Chester University and was majoring in criminal justice.
