Nazareth Advertises for Full-Time Police Officers

Nazareth Mayor Carl Strye Jr. says the police hiring process has begun.

Nazareth Mayor Carl Strye has an announcement: Let the full-time police hiring process begin.

Strye stated that a public notice was posted on Nazareth's website seeking full-time police officers as the borough tries to rebuild its police force.

"The process has officially started," Strye said. "We are on our way!"

Nazareth is looking to rebuild its police department after a deal to try to get Colonial Regional to oversee police coverage fell through. 

The borough currently has three full-time police officers, including Police Chief Thomas Trachta. Nazareth has also been seeking part-time police officers.

PUBLIC NOTICE BOROUGH OF NAZARETH

SEEKING APPLICANTS FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER

Notice is hereby given by the Borough of Nazareth, Pennsylvania that applicants will be accepted for the position of full-time Police Officer.

Applicants must be Act 120 qualified and an Associates Degree or the credit equivalent in a Criminal Justice program or related field is preferred.

Interested persons may pick up an application at the Nazareth Borough Business Office located at 134 South Main Street, Nazareth, Pennsylvania 18064 during regular business hours (8:30 – 4:30 Monday through Friday).

Applications must be returned no later than 4:30 on Friday August 23, 2013.

A fifty-dollar ($50.00) filing fee must accompany the completed application.

Current “part-time” Nazareth Police Officers are exempt from the filing fee.

A job description, wage and benefit scales, and the current police contract are available for inspection.
