UPDATE: Missing Upper Nazareth Man Found Dead in Stockertown

Ankit Patel, 29, had been reported missing since Jan. 21.

An Upper Nazareth Township man missing since Jan. 21 who was found dead in Stockertown yesterday, died of multiple traumatic injuries, according to Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek.

Ankit Patel, 29, of Tewksbury Court was found near a cellular tower on Commerce Way, police say.  He was found just east of Route 191.

Northampton County Deputy Coroner Kelly Gillis pronounced Patel dead on the scene at 3:25 p.m., according to police.

Lysek said Patel's injuries are consistent with falling or jumping from the cellular tower.

According to Alan Siegfried, the Upper Nazareth Township chief of police, Patel's father reported him missing almost six weeks ago.  Siegfried recalled at least one other occasion when Patel had gone missing in the past.

Siegfried believes Patel may have had some form of mental illness, but could not elaborate.

Police are calling the death accidental, and the manner of death is pending further tests, according to Lysek.
