Man Used Stolen Credit Cards at Sunoco, Police Say

Brooklyn man charged with identity theft after allegedly using someone else's credit cards to buy gas/groceries in Stockertown.

Pennsylvania State Police say a Brooklyn man bought gas and groceries with a series of stolen credit cards at the Sunoco station in Stockertown.

Stanislav Kogan, 23, is charged with identity theft and access device fraud.

According to court records, the gas station called police Tuesday after Kogan made a series of trips there to fill up his pick-up truck. Police say Kogan used multiple credit cards to fill up his truck, some of which would be declined.

When Kogan returned on Wednesday, a state trooper came back and found him mid-fill up. Kogan handed over some credit cards, none of which matched the numbers of the store's receipts.

When police spoke to the credit card companies, they learned all the cards had been closed, and that their account holders had not authorized Kogan to use the cards. Police issued an arrest warrant for Kogan, who was arraigned before on duty District Judge Roy Manwaring in Bethlehem.

Kogan was sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
