Man charged with Stealing Copper in Lower Nazareth

A 29-year-old Northampton County man was charged last week with stealing copper wire from an abandoned house on Hanoverville Road in Lower Nazareth, according to police.

Biagio Colasante, of 4653 Smith Drive in Hanover Township was arrested after were called to Lions Eye Bank on a report of a suspicious car parked in the lot. The car was “loaded with cut copper wiring, metal objects and a large amount of tools,” police said.

While Colasante was returning to his car, he noticed the police and “turned around and walked away.”

Police stopped him and he admitted to entering the house on Hanoverville Road and taking the wire, the report states. He was charged with theft, criminal mischief and possessing instruments of crime.

He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
