Gang Members Involved in Bushkill Township 'Revenge' Beating, Police say

Six people have been charged in a July melee that court records describe as revenge for an earlier fighter in which a male juvenile had his front teeth 'knocked to the bone.'

A 19th birthday party in Bushkill Township featured a half-barrel of beer in a tub, marijuana and a brutal baseball bat attack that left a party-goer with severe head trauma and permanent deafness in his left ear.

Six young people ages 19 to 21 have been charged in the July melee that court records describe as revenge for an earlier fighter in which a male juvenile had his front teeth “knocked to the bone.”

Among the large group that responded to the call for revenge were three males described in the records as “known” members of the Latin Kings gang and another male described as being in the Bloods gang.

None of the six suspects were identified as gang members.

The suspects, who were arraigned Tuesday at the office of District Judge Douglas Schlegel of Wind Gap, live in Bethlehem, Bath and the townships of Moore, East Allen and South Whitehall.

A criminal complaint, from which information for this story was taken, was filed by Bushkill Township Det. Donald Ackerman and Bushkill Officer Peter Dewey.

The complaint said that after the first fight, the victim and two others drove to a Bath convenience store and called friends. At one point, the records say, four to five cars with three to four people in each car gathered at the store to plot the revenge.

The fight victim went to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. The others decided to go to the Bushkill Township house and “have at it.”

The party, which began on July 20, a Friday, and extended into the next day, was held at 228 E. Mountain Road. It was hosted by Nicholas Fry in honor of his 19th birthday. Online court records show the Mountain Road home is owned by Walter Fry Jr.

The complaint identified the bat-beatened party-goer as Cory Parenti, 19. Parenti witnessed a fight -- separate from the earlier fight -- between Fry and another male. The fight was triggered by an argument over a female.

The male then hid from Fry, worried that Fry might try to get a gun, the complaint said.

Parenti went outside looking for the male and was “greeted” by a baseball bat to the head. By this time, those who had gathered at the convenience store were on the Mountain Road property. They split into two groups and hid behind bushes, waiting to attack someone.

Even after Parenti lost consciousness, the attackers continued beating him -- not only with the bat but with punches and kicks.

When the attack was over, Parenti had suffered trauma to his head and upper torso, his left eye was closed and his nose was slanted to the right side.

He was first taken to Easton Hospital but later was transferred to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, where he required surgery and was in the trauma unit for five days, the complaint said.

The damage to his left ear was “beyond repair.” He was left permanently deaf in that ear.

In the first fight, according to the complaint, Fry told others “watch this” and while outside the house went to the blind side of a juvenile male and “attacked him without provocation.” The juvenile and two others were invited to the party by a mutual friend of Fry’s.

Fry and others beat the juvenile, but the juvenile and the two others were able to leave. They drove south to the Sunoco A Plus Mini Market at Main and Walnut (Route 512) streets, Bath, where plotting for the revenge began.

In April, Fry was accused of threatening another man with a knife at Nazareth Boro-Park.

The following is information on the suspects:

  • Joseph Sebastia Esteves, 21, of the 3000 block of Linden St., Bethlehem. Charged with conspiracy - aggravated assault, corruption of minors, loitering and prowling at nighttime, and disorderly conduct - engage in fighting. Released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Sounds like a repeat of the same thing that happened in 01 between nazo and easton football players that left one easton player deaf after a bat to the head. Never good to here. I dont believethat the bloods and latin kings are hanging out in bushkill, but ok. Never the less, if i still lived in nazo I would be more worried about the latin kings being there. They are known for killing people for no reason AT ALL.

This isn't the first time gangs have been mentioned by Nazareth area police. I didn't include the following because the article was a wee bit long (http://patch.com/A-sKt7): In April, Nazareth police sought the public's help in identifying a group of teenagers who assaulted a Nazareth Area High School student at the Kiwanis Playground. Three alleged suspects -- one claims to be a member of the Bloods, a street gang -- were apprehended, but were not charged in the assault. They were found in possession of alleged marijuana, a large sum of cash and knives.

Apples don't fall far from the tree! I went to high school with the Father of this kid and as I recall he had his share of fights there too! But gangs??? Time to clamp down on these thugs and let them know they are not welcome or will not be tolerated in this area!

first off all to who it may concern Nicholas Fry did no harm to the kid who was so called jumped by Nicholas Fry and others he was asked to leave the Fry house and refused to do so and started the fight. Then out of pure revenge for being thrown out planned to jump him at the end of the drive way where Cory Parenti happened to be at where he was brutaly beaten. A means of celebrating a birthday party turned out to be horrific and Nicholas Fry shouldnt be charged with anything for what happened at his party due to un welcome visitors its a shame Cory Parenti was the victim but kids these day's hold gruges on people and mean to take action regardless who it is the people named above should be put away for a long long time not Nicholas Fry Thank you, john doe

Honestly I cannot believe that these almost adults didn't get the books thrown at them, I remember a few years back when a 15 year old boy put a sleeper hold on another 15 year old and that poor kid got the books thrown at him. And that was only a game! How did these get off so easy? I mean come on this Parenti boy was almost beaten to death. I guess it's who you know these days!
Nick's mom December 20, 2012 at 05:46 AM
I am Nick's mother and although I do NOT condone that he even had an underage party at his house, I don't believe that they are charging my son with the worst of all this for defending his house to an unwelcomed, uninvited intruder. He is now facing 30 yrs and is on 75000 secured bail - I am ashamed it came to this and I feel horrible and apologize to any person harmed. They may be adults but at this age they don't all act like adults or know the full consequence of their actions. It takes things like this to open their eyes, and I am sure Nick is already feeling the regret. I know since his friend was hurt, he stopped the parties, but that won't change what occured in July or any choices be they right or wrong back then...I pray all the kids involved realize they can't afford these things, financially, emotionally or the scars on their records forever. Although my son is sitting in jail because I do not have 5250 to give to bail bondsman...I love him and will help him however I can. I just pray to God they all learn from this and that noone was killed. Again, for all who may have been affected, my apologies for my sons part..pray for us please.
Concerned neighbor December 20, 2012 at 12:53 PM
As a neighbor its almost a joke that any of this is a big suprise. This boy has been living unsupervised in that home for weeks. The activity and noise was certainly a flag that something was going on! The whole neighborhood knew it was the go to place for kids to party! All of us with kids worried that our kids would check out these parties. Thank God mine was not there that night for the Birthday Bash. Unfortunately for Cory being at the wrong party will last his lifetime. Social media spins all these parties out of control wiith many uninvited kids. Bottom line an 18 year old is probably not mature enough to live alone and able to control out of control parties.
rick troxell December 20, 2012 at 01:34 PM
JUst where are the parents? That an 18 year old lives in a home alone. As neighbors and you knew the goings on why did you not inform the authorities and file complaints?
Ha! December 20, 2012 at 03:00 PM
Haha! All the kids, not adults because adults should not act that way, should be in jail. The fighting is ridiculous and immature. I am in the family of one of the kids who are facing charges, and I don't feel bad at all for him. You act like a criminal you go where you should be...jail. These kids deserve everything they get, all the fines, charges and how ever many years. Some human beings are just scum :P PS-He lives alone because his father is in jail...like father like son.

This makes me wonder what kind of teens are hanging out in a group at the end of my street by the garages...
Jeepers63 December 21, 2012 at 09:48 PM
Gangs are a threat to society, our neighborhoods. Gangs = crime... so keep them off the streets everywhere. These immature low-lifes all need jail time.
