Forks Man Admits to Forging Urologist's Signature on Oxy Script

A Forks Township man who has been cleaning the office of an area urologist admitted to police he stole a blank prescription and forged the doctor’s signature in an effort to obtain 180 tablets of the painkiller Oxycodone, court records say.

The suspect, Eric L. Share, 25, of the 1000 block of Greenleaf St., took the forged prescription form to the Walgreens at 1955 Sullivan Trail in Forks on Nov. 1, the records say.

The urologist is Dr. Franklin Margolis, who is listed in a computer search as having offices in Phillipsburg and Lower Nazareth Township.

Share was still in the Walgreens when Forks police arrived at 4:21 p.m. He was detained inside the store “after attempting to avoid the responding officers [who] entered the pharmacy,” the records say.

Share was charged with criminal attempt, a felony, for trying to obtain the pills. But Margolis told police he did not want them to charge Share with the additional crime of forgery, the records say.

A criminal complaint filed by Forks Det. Joseph Effting also says:

• When police arrived at the Walgreens, Cpl. Shawn Hummer spoke with a pharmacist who said a man identifying himself as Eric Share produced a prescription form from Margolis for 180 tablets at 30mg. each of Oxycodone. The complaint does not list the prescription’s price.

• The pharmacist checked with Margolis’ office and was advised the prescription was not written out by Margolis and that the doctor’s signature apparently was forged.

• After police detained Share and he waived his Miranda rights, he told Effting he obtained a blank prescription form “a few days ago” while cleaning the office. He admitted forging Margolis’ name.

• Effting later spoke with Margolis, who said he is “familiar” with Share, that Share cleans his office every other week “and that he did not prescribe any Oxycodone” to Share. Margolis also said he did not want Share charged with forgery. The complaint did not say which of Margolis’ offices Share has been cleaning.

Share was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township and released on $15,000 unsecured bail.
