Fatal Crash on Newburg Road in Upper Nazareth Wednesday

At least one person is dead in a crash on the 3000 block of Newburg Road in Upper Nazareth Township.

A mini-van and the cab of a tractor trailer crashed on the 3000 block of Newburg Road in Upper Nazareth Township early Wednesday evening, leaving at least one person dead.

The Northampton County coroner was on the scene as of 5:30 p.m., but officials have not yet said how many people were involved in the accident.

Newburg Road is closed at Gun Club Road.

Power was knocked out to the immediate area but Med-Ed crews are on the scene.

This is the second fatal crash in 15 months on this stretch of Newburg Road.

On May 31, 2011, a van crossed the center line -- for unknown reasons -- and collided with a recreational vehicle. The driver of the student van, Kelly Quier, 42, was killed.
