A Bethlehem Township man is facing drunken driving charges after he allegedly parked his car in a stranger’s back yard.
A homeowner on Cobblestone Lane in Lower Nazareth Township called police around 10:24 p.m. March 1 to report a vehicle—one he did not recognize—in his back yard.
When police arrived, 45-year-old Frederick Sandt was found sitting in the back seat of his vehicle. Sandt identified himself as the driver, police say.
In a press release, Colonial Regional Officer Andy Laudenslager notes that Sandt showed extreme signs of intoxication, had a difficult time walking, and smelled of alcohol when he spoke.
Sandt was taken to the Easton DUI Center for processing. He faces charges of driving under the influence and trespassing by motor vehicle, according to police.

Seiple added: "Bottom line is, my officers are professional, they know what they’re doing. They’re on the scene, they know what transpired." It seems the main difference between the two crimes was that Mr. Sandt admitted he was driving when asked. I wonder if Mr. Audenried was actually asked if he was driving. I'm assuming since Cheif Seiple indicated that his officers are professional that they indeed did ask Mr. Audenried if he was driving and he said no. The lesson to be learned here is that if you get drunk and pull over to pass out, do not admit to an officer that you were driving before passing out.
