Mom Who Allegedly Threw Baby on Floor Now Faces Drug Charges

A Nazareth woman charged with throwing her 8-month-old son on the floor earlier this month now faces prescription drug charges, Police Chief said.

A Nazareth woman charged earlier this month with throwing her 8-month-old son on the floor was arrested Friday on drug charges, Nazareth Police Chief Thomas Trachta said.

Susan Autenrieth, 35, of Nazareth, allegedly forged prescriptions for drugs, police said. Police said she fraudulently obtained 30 pills of zolpidem tartrate (also known as Ambien, a sleeping pill), 120 pills of oxycodone and 50 pills of fentanyl (both are painkillers) in April and May from CVS, Rite Aid and Wegmans pharmacies in the Nazareth area, Trachta said.

"She forged doctors' names on prescriptions," Trachta said Monday. "She used aliases and did it in different places."

Autenrieth was charged July 3 for allegedly throwing her son on the floor during an incident at her residence earlier that day. The boy hit his head, according to a criminal complaint in the case.

Autenrieth is charged with three counts of drug possession. She was previously charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and harassment. She was released after posting 10 percent of $5,000 bail on the assault-related charges.

On the drug charges, Autenreith was jailed Friday in lieu of $10,000 bail but was released after posting bail today (Monday).

Her estranged husband killed a state trooper in 2009 and she was assaulted by her boyfriend earlier this month while she held her son in her arms, court records say.
