Cops: Mom Left Baby in Van, Drank in Bar for 5 Hours

The baby had to be hospitalized after being out in the cold for so long.

A woman is under arrest Friday after police say she left her 2-month-old strapped in a car seat while she drank at a Bethlehem bar for five hours.

Police were called to Keystone Pub at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday when someone reported seeing a baby in a vehicle, NBC said. Lisa Altif, 32, identified herself as the owner of the van to police.

The baby was strapped into a car seat, but the seat was simply on the floor of the van, which lacked a backseat, NBC said.

The baby was hospitalized after being in the cold van for so long.

Receipts from the bar showed that Altif had been drinking inside Keystone Pub for five hours, NBC said. Altif had five glasses of wine, NBC said.

Altif was charged with child endangerment and driving with a suspended license, and was being held in county prison Friday.
