Citation to Follow Ice Cream Cone Smash and Grab

A 17-year-old from Stroudsburg will be receiving a citation for disorderly conduct after allegedly smashing an ice cream cone out of an employee's hand at McDonald's.

A 17-year-old from Stroudsburg landed himself in hot water after he allegedly smashed a $1 ice cream cone out of a drive-thru attendant’s hand at in Lower Nazareth Township, according to . 

On Aug. 1 around 7pm, police responded to the McDonald’s in the Northampton Crossings shopping center for a report of food being thrown from a vehicle at the fast-food restaurant. 

According to police, a drive-thru attendant received an order for a $1 ice cream cone. When the employee placed the cone outside of the drive-thru window, police say, the driver of the vehicle accelerated rapidly with his hand extended out of the car’s window.

The driver, who was later identified as the Stroudsburg teenager, then smashed the cone from the attendant’s hand and drove away.

He didn’t go far, however. He headed next door to the parking lot, according to police.

The vehicle’s license plate was given to police and was located a short time later. Police say four juveniles were in the vehicle, including the 17-year-old driver. 

The driver, who was not identified by police because of his age, will be mailed a non-traffic citation for disorderly conduct.

The other three were not cited. Police also withheld their names.
