Officer Breaks Down Door to Save Woman, Dogs from Fire
Chimney Fire in Upper Nazareth Township
An Upper Nazareth Township police officer responding to a report of a chimney fire broke down a door after hearing dogs barking inside.
"After the officer let the dogs out, he went inside to clear the rest of the house," said Police Chief Alan Siegfried. "He discovered a woman sleeping in an upstairs bedroom."
Emergency crews were called around 7:40 a.m. to the home at 3047 Bath Pike. The fire was contained to an addition portion of the home, according to Siegfried.

Joyce Piazza, 56, who rents the property, was escorted from the home and stayed with a neighbor until the fire was taken care of, the chief said.
No injuries were reported and Piazza will be able to return to the main portion of the home, added Siegfried.
