Bushkill Township Man Allegedly Dropped Cocaine on Sands Casino Floor

Miguel Rios, 38, of Bushkill Township is accused of gambling at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem with seven baggies of cocaine -- and he allegedly dropped one bag -- in tow.

A Bushkill Township man who told police he'd been awake for over a week was arrested on drug charges Wednesday morning at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem.

Miguel Rios, 38, of 106 W. Mountain Road, is charged with violating the state controlled substances act.

According to court records, Sands security found a bag of white powder on the casino floor around 12:24 a.m. Wednesday. When reviewing surveillance footage, they saw a man -- later identified as Rios -- drop the bag about 40 minutes earlier.

Police tracked Rios down inside the casino, and discovered he had a bag with six additional baggies of cocaine. He told them it was for his personal use, "and has currently been up for over a week," police said.

Rios was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter of Wilson and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
