Bushkill Township Man Accused of Choking Girlfriend

Michael V. Curcio, 38, of Bushkill Township is accused of putting his hands around the throat of his girlfriend and restricting her breathing several times.

A man is accused of a domestic assault on his girlfriend at his Clearfield Road home.

Michael V. Curcio, 38, of the 1000 block of Clearfield Road, allegedly put his hands around the throat of his girlfriend and restricted her breathing several times at his home on Saturday before she could get away.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Curcio also knocked a cell phone out of her hands when she tried to call police. The altercation began as an argument about Curcio being verbally abusive, according to police.

Police obtained the arrest warrant for Curcio from on-duty District Judge Roy Manwaring of Bethlehem Saturday night. Police could not locate the suspect immediately.

Curcio, however, was arrested Monday morning and arraigned before District Judge Douglas Schlegel of Wind Gap. He was released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
