Woman Sold Heroin to Informant in Lower Nazareth, Police Say

Woman took cash from informant as police watched transaction in front of Lower Nazareth convenience store, court records say.

An Easton man and a Bethlehem woman sold two bundles of heroin to a confidential informant in the parking lot of a Lower Nazareth Township convenience store Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Joshua Haney, 29, of 111 S. 15th St., Easton, and Gina Alvarado, 32, of 746 Laufer St., Bethlehem, were both taken into custody shortly after the “controlled” buy was completed under police observation outside the Wawa at 3820 Easton-Nazareth Highway.

With Alvarado riding in the passenger seat, Haney drove his car to the meeting spot and parked at the store’s gas pumps at about 3:20 p.m., police said. The informant, who was waiting in front of the store walked to the car, greeted Haney, then went to the front passenger seat and handed $180 in pre-recorded money to Alvarado.

The informant had received two bundles—20 packets—of heroin in the transaction, police said.

Colonial Regional Police conducted a traffic stop of Haney’s vehicle shortly after the buy and allegedly found the prerecorded cash, 50 more packets of heroin and an additional $1,121 in cash.

Haney and Alvarado were both charged with delivery of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin and criminal conspiracy and arraigned before on-duty District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez of Bethlehem.

Both were committed to Northampton County Prison. Haney’s bail was set at $100,000 and Alvarado’s bail was set at $50,000.
