$5,000 Swiped from Strongbox, Police Say

An Easton woman admits taking $5,000 earlier this year from a locked strongbox kept by her ex-boyfriend's mother who lives in Plainfield Township, court records say.

An Easton woman admitted taking $5,000 earlier this year from a locked strongbox her ex-boyfriend’s mother, who lives in Plainfield Township, kept in a bathroom closet, according to court documents.

Sabrina M. Gray, 32, later gave $3,000 to a man, the court records say.

Police’s reaction? Gray allegedly still owes the mother $2,000, and Gray is being charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property.

A criminal complaint filed by Plainfield Officer Christopher Ryan says the theft occurred sometime between Feb. 27 and March 7.

On March 7, another township officer took a theft report from the mother, who lives on Frable Street.

Two days later, the mother said that Gray admitted to the $5,000 theft and gave a man $3,000, the complaint says. The man is identified in the complaint, but it does not specify his relationship to the women.

Ryan requests in the complaint that Gray pay back the $2,000 she allegedly still owes to the mother.

The complaint was approved April 18 and Gray was taken into custody.

Gray, of 343 E. Nesquehoning St., was arraigned recently by on-duty District Judge Diane Marakovits of Northampton and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
