190 Bags of Heroin Found in Man's Car, Police Say

Curtis Phillips Jr., 24, whose last known address was in Plainfield Township, is arrested on an outstanding warrant and on charges of having 190 bags of heroin in his car.

A Nazareth area man was arrested at the I-78 toll plaza in Williams Township on Wednesday after police found 190 bags of heroin in his car.

Curtis Phillips Jr., 24, whose last known address was in Plainfield Township, was arraigned Thursday night by on-duty District Judge Robert Hawke. He was charged with drug possession, possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Phillips was also cited for careless driving, following too closely, and turning movement and required signals, court records say.

According to a press release, State Trooper Michael Kalinchock stopped a gray 2003 Nissan Maxima around 8 p.m. Wednesday for several traffic violations. 

A check of the Nissan’s registration showed a warrant for Phillips, who was considered armed and dangerous.

Easton police arrested Phillips in June 2012 on a warrant for weapons and drug charges from a March drug bust in the city.

Phillips was arrested without incident Wednesday and committed to Northampton County Prison on the outstanding warrant.

During a search of Phillips’ vehicle, police found 190 bags of heroin.

Phillips remains in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
