Obituary: John H. Rumbarger, 86, of Nazareth

John H. Rumbarger, 86, of Nazareth, died Saturday, June 2, 2012.

John H. Rumbarger, 86, of Nazareth died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was born in Norfolk, VA, on Dec. 27, 1925 to the late William E. and Gladys (Hendrickson) Rumbarger. He leaves his wife, Trudi E. Rumbarger.

Personal: He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. John was an executive engineer with Arvin/Calspan Corp.’s Franklin Research Center Division in Norristown, where he received the Silver Snoopy Award. He was an expert in Bearing Technology and received the Astronaut’s Personal Achievement Award for his professionalism, dedication and outstanding support that greatly enhanced flight safety during the Space Shuttle Space Transportation System Program.

Memberships: He was a member of Promised Land Church Of The Nazarene in Bethlehem.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, John is survived by five sons, James, Kenneth and Michael Rumbarger and Ernest and Randy Baxendale; four daughters, Donna Wyatt, Carol Detwiler, Karen Bearchell and Kathy Morse; 17 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, William Rumbarger.

Services: Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Promised Land Church Of The Nazarene. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service in the church. Burial will follow in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Schmidt Funeral Home, Nazareth.
