BUSHKILL TOWNSHIP BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

Everyone is invited to celebration Bushkill Township's 200th birthday on August 17!  The 9:30 am Bicentennial Opening Ceremony features a tree dedication, state proclamation, and bird release.  Free Guided Trolley Rides will depart every 20 minutes from 10-3 for a ride through history past and present.  Guides will point out various points of interest and 4 stops are available:  Bushkill Elementary School, Jacobsburg Environmental Center and Benade House, and the F&M Farm, the new training center for thoroughbred horses. Other activities from 10 to 3 include (muni grounds) Pet Parade (registration required), games, balloon twisting clown, face painting, (Bushkill Elementary) environmental center and school tours, Ride the Rails real train rides, sing-a-long, vintage clothing dress-up/photos and miniature horses on display.  Music is provided by Claude Shappelle at noon and Nazareth Area Community Band Patriotic Concert at 3:00 pm.  Meet first responders and see fire and rescue vehicles up close, police dog demo, and even the Life Flight chopper!  Center for Humanistic Change and the D.A.'s Office will be on hand with info. about bullying, gangs, drugs & alcohol, and crime prevention.  The Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Co. will serve breakfast buffet from 8:00 am-11:00 am ($6.00) and offer a large selection of other foods for purchase from 11:00-4:00 pm.  The Celebration concludes on Sunday, August 18 with a Sundown Worship Service at the township's oldest church, St. Luke's UCC on Belfast Rd. at 7:00 pm.  Featured are tours and memorabilia prior to the service and music by the Pa.
