PHOTOS: Bushkill Creek Sets Sights on Area Roads

The Bushkill Creek creeps toward flood levels in some areas.

The Bushkill Creek rose to levels high enough to tease flood-prone areas -- beginning to flow over its banks in a few spots.

The creek lapped at the banks of Braden Park in Tatamy. The park was left submerged following Hurricane Irene and had just barely begun to dry out when the most recent rains hit the Lehigh Valley.

Chris Moren, president of Tatamy Borough Council, said the borough spent about $15,000 on cleanup and repairs at the park following Irene.

At Tuesday night's council meeting, Moren said Tatamy will seek federal assistance.

As of Wednesday morning, the creek merely teased the idea of overflowing once again, but the rain isn't finished. The Nazareth area is expected to receive between one-half and three-quarters-of-an-inch overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
