The Nazareth Area Society of Model Engineers will open its displays to the public starting Friday, Nov. 23 from 7-9 p.m.

The Nazareth Area Society of Model Engineers will hold its annual open house on:

  • Friday, Nov. 23: 7-9 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 24: 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 25: 7-9 p.m.
  • Scout Night, Nov. 27: 7-9 p.m.

NASME, which is a source of enjoyment and education for model railroading fans of all ages, is housed in Stockertown's former fire hall, 212 Main Street.

There will be three model train layouts operating during the public displays. The O gauge layout, featuring trains manufactured by Lionel, MTH and other makers, has over 2,000 feet of 3-rail track, over 100 switches and many operating accessories.

This 75 foot by 20 foot, multi-level layout is fun to watch and also has several features you can operate. See Nazareth in an entirely new way when you view the club’s famous model of central Nazareth on the 2-rail S gauge layout.

The first floor of the train building is home to NASME’s enormous HO, multi-level layout that features the only operating helix in the area, which raises four trains at once almost 40 inches to a second level. Also featured will be the fascinating HO “hump yard” where freight trains are put together and then dispatched to make their deliveries to other points on the layout.
