Freezing Rain Advisory Issued for Sunday Night

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for Northampton County. The advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.

Commuters and may want to wake up earlier than they normally do on Monday in order to assess weather conditions.

That's because the National Weather Service has issued an overnight Freezing Rain Advisory for Northampton and Lehigh counties, as well as other parts of northeastern Pennsylvania and northwestern New Jersey.

The advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday and has been issued because of the possibility of freezing drizzle.

The weather service says in its statement that the drizzle could create hazardous travel conditions.

Monday afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-40s, which means motorists may encounter a slushy commute home as melts and mixes with rain.
