Trout Season Starts Saturday in Nazareth Area

Regional trout fishing season begins March 30. Here's everything you need to know about trout season in the Nazareth area.

State and local officials in Northampton County are getting ready for trout season and the annual rush of anglers who are anxious to test the waters.

The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission has announced its plans to stock local waters in the Nazareth area with both brown and rainbow trout, and both brook and rainbow trout in Palmer Township.

The regional opening day of trout season is Saturday, March 30.

However, prior to heading out, several state rules and regulations must be followed before you can bait that hook or rig that lure.

A regular state fishing license costs $22.70, but if you want to catch trout, the cost is an additional $9.70 for a trout stamp. Licenses can be purchased at Mike's Bait and Sport Shop or Walmart.

Here are the full list of rules and regulations concerning trout fishing season from the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission website.

According to the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, approved trout waters in Northampton County include Bushkill Creek, Hokendauqua Creek, Indian Creek, Jacoby Creek, Lehigh Canal (0.6 mile downstream of Carbon County line downstream to confluence with Bertsch Creek, and first lock upstream of Monocacy Creek crossing downstream to confluence with Nancy Run Crossing), Little Bushkill Creek, Martins Creek, Monocacy Creek and Saucon Creek.
