Area Native to Star in Pa. Shakespeare Festival's "Sweeney Todd"

Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's Director of Development encourages local residents to see Wilson Borough native and Broadway star Dee Roscioli play Mrs. Lovett in "Sweeney Todd."

Opening night of "Sweeney Todd," presented by the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, will be Friday, June 15.

Wilson Borough native Dee Roscioli will play Mrs. Lovett.

Roscioli graduated from Wilson Area High School and . She played Elphaba (the green witch) in "Wicked" on Broadway.

I had the opportunity to briefly meet her in New York this spring and hear her sing last Saturday at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's Gala. She is extraordinary!

Preview nights of "Sweeney Tood" are this Wednesday and Thursday with the formal opening night on Friday. The show runs until July 1 on the campus of DeSales at 2755 Station Avenue, Center Valley.

The Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce and the will hold a group night on Wednesday, and the DeSales University ACCESS Campus will hold a group night on Thursday.
