GRANDMA’S Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème cookies have been removed from Giant Food Stores shelves because the product contains milk and eggs, allergens that are not identified on the label, according to a press release.
The product, which is safe to consume for individuals who do not suffer from a milk or egg allergy, was removed from shelves after a recall by Frito-Lay.
The following product is included in this recall:
- GRANDMA’S Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème Cookies
- UPC 2840000153, 3.025 oz.
- Sell-by date of May 21, 2013 or earlier
Giant Food Stores has not received reports of illness, but people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or eggs may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The product should be thrown away or brought to any Giant. A full refund is available with a receipt of purchase.
Symptoms of food allergies usually appear within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten a food to which they are allergic.
Reactions can include:
- Hives
- Flushed skin or rash
- Tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth
- Face, tongue or lip swelling
- Vomitting and/or diarrhea
- Abdominal cramps
- Coughing or wheezing
- Dizziness and/or lightheadedness
- Swelling of the throat and vocal cords
- Difficulty breathing
- Loss of consciousness
