Nazareth Sets School Lunch Prices

Prices will rise once again for school lunches in mid-January.

Lunch at Nazareth Area schools is going to be a little more costly this year.

In late July, the school board announced two lunch price hikes for the 2013-2014 school year. The prices went into effect Aug. 1.

Well, when students return to school in two weeks, these will be the prices for the first round of hikes:

  • High school lunch —$2.45
  • Adult lunch — $3.75
  • Milk — 60 cents
Prices will then rise again, effective Jan. 15. They are:
  • High school lunch — $2.70
  • Adult lunch — $4.00
  • Milk — 60 cents
Superintendent Dennis Riker has explained that the increases are being driven by a combination of larger required portions for fruit and vegetables and higher costs for the kinds of food that must be served.
