Lehigh Valley actress Kate Micucci has been cast in a recurring role on "The Big Bang Theory" as "a potential love interest for the confirmed bachelor Raj, according to the Hollywood Reporter and Wikipedia.
The Hollywood Reporter says she will make her debut on the Valentine's Day episode of the CBS comedy in two weeks.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Bushkill Township, Micucci appeared in five episodes of "Scrubs" and has had guest roles on "Malcolm in the Middle," "'Til Death" and "How I Met Your Mother."
Micucci, a 1998 graduate of Nazareth Area High School, has appeared in 10 movies and performs in Los Angeles as half of the musical duo "Garfunkel and Oates." She also performs the musical-comedy act "Playin' with Micucci" at the Steve Allen Theater in L.A.
Micucci has more than 29,000 likes on Facebook, where fans are congratulating her on her "Big Bang Role."
But no worries, Nazareth. She visits quite often.
Micucci led Nazareth Borough's annual kazoo parade in 2010. The following year, she stopped by the Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity for story time (she even broke out her ukulele -- the same one she played on “Scrubs”).
According to katemicucci.com:
Kate was born in New Jersey and spent most of her school years in Pennsylvania. As a kid she focused on playing outside in the woods and playing classical piano.
In college she majored in art, focusing on painting and making puppets. She received an A.A. in Fine Arts from Keystone College.
After a small stint watering banana and pineapple plants in Hawaii, Kate decided to go to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she made more puppets and received a B.A. in Studio Art.
