Temperatures will be in the mid-90s, but it will feel like 100.

The National Weather Service says parts of the Lehigh Valley are under a heat advisory today, although the region will face hot temperatures all week.

The NWS says the worst of this new heat wave will occur Thursday and Friday, when heat indexes could reach between 100 and 105 degrees.

While the heat advisory applies to Lehigh County but not Northampton, the forecast in both places: highs in the mid 90s all week.

It will feel like its 100 degree outside when temperatures in the low to mid-90s are combined with a dewpoint around 70.

The heat advisory means temperatures and humidity are high enough that they could cause heat-related sickness.

Tips to stay safe are:

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Stay out of the sun and in air conditioning if possible
  • Check on neighbors and family
