Bree, of South Whitehall, Named Lehigh Valley Top Dog

Bree, of South Whitehall Township, has been named the Top Dog of the Lehigh Valley. Can she best the rest in the final round?

After 11 days of intense voting, , of South Whitehall Township, has been crowned the .

Bree, who enjoys car rides and walking along railroad tracks near her home, has been the "loyal companion" of Brian Hite for six years.

According to Hite, Bree was a rescue and only has one eye, "but that doesn't stop her from checking out the squirrels and chipmunks!"

One of Bree's noteworthy contenders was Mazey May, the Top Dog of Southern Lehigh. She has earned the silver medal in the

Although the beautiful Black Labrador recently passed away, her owner, known online as Slyfox, keeps her story alive. I would not be doing Mazey May justice by summarizing that story, so head on over to to read more.

Now, the question is: Can Bree best the rest in the final round?

The five regional winners will face off to become the Top Dog in Eastern Pennsylvania Patchland from July 23 to 27. Voting will again take place in the comments section of that article (which will be posted on July 23).

The winner will be announced July 30.

Bree and I are humbled for her winning top dog. With so many worthy dogs in the competition I figured we were lucky to have won the South Whitehall contest. Then Bree's facebook posted the contest and the voting really took off. I want to congratulate all the dogs and their owners who entered the contest, Hopefully Bree can carry their good looks and great stories with her to the next level. Bree would like to thank Google, Ollie, Louis, Liko, Indy-Nemo-Maxx, Peter, Lily and especially Mazey May for all being worthy of being the Lehigh valley's Top Dog. The story of Mazey May really touched our hearts and sentimentally I was pulling for her to win. Having lost a couple of family dogs in past several years I can relate to the love that Mazey Mays owner put into her contest entry write up, it really shows what a great dog she was and what special people her owners are. The Mathew J Ryan Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia is a place that Bree (and her departed "Brother" Gordon) has been to on several occasions, so that part of Mazey's story really hit home for Bree and I. Bree will always carry the story of Mazey May with her as well as all the dogs in the Lehigh Valley, they are all top dogs!
