Annual Motorcycle Poker Run Rolls Out July 16

Charity poker run is open to anyone who rides a motorcycle and wants to help raise money to fight childhood cancer.

On Saturday, July 16, will sponsor the , an event to raise money to fight pediatric cancer. It's open to any motorcycle rider with a valid registration and license plates.

Registration for the Poker Run is from 11am to 1pm at the Vigilance Hose Social Club at 50 S. Cedar St., Nazareth. The cost to register is $20 per rider, and an additional $15 for each passenger.

Here are the rules for the run:

  • Each participant, upon registration, will be given a sticker and directions that include four stops along the nearly 100-mile route.
  • At each stop, a volunteer from the Angel 34 Foundation will give the participant an additional sticker.
  • When all five stickers are retrieved, participants end the run at the Stockertown Rod & Gun Club on Lefevre Road, where they present their stickers in return for playing cards.
  • Once all participants have received their cards, the best poker hand wins a cash prize.

The run will end around 5pm. The band Uncle Smiley will play at the gun club from 3-7pm, and food will be provided by Outback Steakhouse.

“It should be a banner year,” said organizer Eric Heckman, who is hoping for 100 participants. Past years have ranged from 58 to 104 entrants, including passengers.

All proceeds from the event will go to the , a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for pediatric cancer.

 The rain date for the Poker Run is the following day, July 17.
