Holy Family School to Present 'Oliver' this Weekend

The Holy Family School Players will perform the musical 'Oliver' four times over the course of three days, starting Friday, May 18.

They’ve practiced for four months, and now they're ready for the curtain to go up. The Holy Family School Players will perform “Oliver” this weekend for four shows: The performances will take place in the Holy Family School gymnasium. Admission is $7. The show is the school’s ninth production, according to director Catherine Little. "Oliver" features a cast of 92. The story of "Oliver" is set in Victorian England. A baby boy is left on the steps of a work house, and a locket around his neck says "Oliver Twist," according to the story synopsis. As soon as Oliver is old enough to walk, he is put to work by a fellow named Bumble. Oliver, however, infuriates Bumble by daring to ask for more food, so Bumble sells him to an undertaker. Oliver …

Nazareth's Farmers Market to Return May 26

Nazareth's farmers market will return to Center Square on Saturday, May 26.

Nazareth’s farmers market will return to Center Square for a second year. Beginning Saturday, May 26, area residents will have their pick of local, fresh crops and local, fresh baked goods -- and more. The hours will be different, however. Instead of running from 8 a.m. to noon, the 2012 market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday. The market is expected to run until mid-October, according to Kevin Donahoe, a member of the Nazareth Economic Development Commission (NEDC). He is also the owner of Nazareth Floral Designs at Donahoe Farms. “[The farmers market] is weather related, so if [the vendors] have things to sell, they’ll keep coming,” Donahoe said. Nazareth Theatre Troupe Presents 'Singin' in the Rain'

With a successful opening night behind it, the Nazareth Area High School Theatre Troupe will present 'Singin' in the Rain' five more times.

The Nazareth Area High School Theatre Troupe opened its 69th musical production, "Singin' In The Rain," Friday night. The film -- frequently cited as one of the best musicals ever -- was adapted into a stage musical in 1983. The theatre troupe will present "Singin’ In The Rain" in the high school auditorium five more times: A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity. The school will participate in the annual Freddy Awards -- a competition for high school musicals in the region -- for the first time this year. Chance to 'Meet' Eleanor Roosevelt this Thursday

Linda Kenyon will bring to life one of America’s most beloved First Ladies during the April 12 showing of 'A Life of My Own: Meeting Eleanor Roosevelt' at the Nazareth Memorial Library.

Area residents will have the opportunity to "meet" Eleanor Roosevelt during an exclusive showing of “A Life of My Own: Meeting Eleanor Roosevelt” at The Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity. The show will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12. Admission is free. Seating is limited, however, and registration is appreciated.
