A major winter storm that was expected to rip the Northeast and New England Friday night into Saturday won't pack such a wallop in the Nazareth area.

The National Weather Service scaled down snow accumulations to 3-5 inches after initial reports suggested 6-10 inches of snow.
The worst of the storm was expected to hit Friday night with heavy blowing snow expected. As of late Friday afternoon, the Nazareth area had just experienced some flurries.

- Forks, Palmer, Easton, Bushkill Twp., Tatamy, Bath and Wind Gap have all announced snow emergencies.
