What You Need to Know Before Voting in Today's Election

Candidate profiles, polling locations and more.

 

Today, November 8, is Election Day -- the day to make your choice for local officials such as school board members who decide how your hard-earned tax dollars will be spent.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Local Races

Nazareth School Board

Nazareth School Board has one open seat for election this year in “Region 1” (Bushkill Township, Tatamy and Palmer Township/Upper, West) and two candidates are running.

Nazareth Borough Council

Nazareth Borough Council has two seats open for election this year in "Ward 2" and three candidates are running.

County Races

On the countywide ballot, Republican Northampton County Councilman Michael Dowd is facing a challenge from Robert Werner, a Democrat.

There's also a race for county controller: Steve Barron, the man who's held the job since 2008, is being challenged by Steve Salvesen, a Hanover Township supervisor.

And lastly, voters will be asked if they want to retain county judge Edward Smith.
