Water Main Break Reported on St. Elmo Street in Upper Nazareth
The break in the 6-inch main, between Newport Avenue and Rose Inn Avenue, did not close any streets, according to published reports.
The frigid temperatures currently blanketing the Lehigh Valley have caused a slippery situation near a water main break on St. Elmo Street in Upper Nazareth Township, according to a report in The Express-Times.
A water main break at 5:15 a.m. has shut off water to a two-block area, an official with Pennsylvania American Water told the newspaper. Repairs are expected to be complete by noon or 1 p.m.
Although crews were dispatched to plow, salt and cinder the ice created by the break, a water company official told The Express-Times that temperatures haven't been cold long enough to play a role in the main break.
