Towne House, American Legion Cited for Alleged Liquor Code Violations

The Pennsylvania State Police Liquor Enforcement Office has cited two Nazareth Borough bars for alleged offenses.

According to a press release, the Harold V. Knecht Post 415 American Legion on S. Main Street was cited for:

• Allegedly selling alcoholic beverages to non-members on March 18, 2012 and May 23, 2012.

• Allegedly serving alcoholic beverages to a visibly intoxicated patron on July 19, 2012.

• Allegedly possessing or operating gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitting gambling or lotteries, pool-selling and/or book-making on licensed premises on Aug. 31, 2012, Sept. 28, 2012 and Jan. 17.

According to the press release, the Towne House on S. Broad St. was cited for:

• Alleged violation of Pa. Liquor Code 499(a), which provides that all patrons must vacate the licensed premises no later than one-half (½) hour after legal alcoholic beverage service time expires, on Jan. 6.
  
  Retail licensees are permitted to sell alcoholic beverages between the hours of 7 a.m. of any weekday and 2 a.m. of the following day.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.

The judge can impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charge, and can also mandate training for the licensee in an effort to educate on the requirements of being a licensee in Pennsylvania.
