Student, Teacher Allegedly Had Sex in Wal-Mart Parking Lot

Rachel L. Farrell, 25, allegedly had numerous sexual encounters -- which includes sex in the parking lot of the Lower Nazareth Wal-Mart -- with her students.

Charges have been filed against Rachel L. Farrell, 25, of 2338 Northwood Ave., Palmer Township for having sex with students from Bangor Area High School, according to the Northampton County District Attorney’s office.

Farrell, a former teacher at Bangor H.S., allegedly admitted to police on Dec. 16 that she had had sex with two 17-year-old boys from the school. She submitted her resignation at the same time.

At a press conference Tuesday morning, District Attorney John Morganelli said Farrell had affairs with up to four students, and had an extended relationship with at least one, according to The Express-Times.

Morganelli also said Farrell, who taught under her maiden name, Werner, has cooperated with police, but some of the students who are believed to have had sex with her have not.

One boy, now 18, told police that Farrell was his 11th grade reading teacher.

He said "he and Farrell had sexual intercourse numerous times at many different locations. Many times were in her car or his car parked in secluded locations," according to the affidavit of probable cause. He said some "sex occurred in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Rt. 248" and also at the Ramada Inn in Tannersville, Monroe County.

Farrell was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Barner on three counts of corruption of minors. She was released on $5,000 bail.

The above arrest information was supplied by the office of the Northampton County District Attorney. It does not indicate a conviction.

At 17, they new what they where doing, so why give up the teacher other than money!!! In some states, 16 is considered adult age for consent. The parents should be appalled knowing they did a lousy job raising their kids. I bet these kids take rides from strangers too!!! Nothing to be proud about, get some counseling.

Some of you people don't get it she is an adult teacher in a position of authority having sex with a minor. She is a child molester according to the law plain and simple. She should be in jail not out on bail.

You call a 17 yr. old a child...They got kids younger then him fighting in wars around the world...17 is not a child...7 yrs. old is a child! All I can say is I wish I was that 17 yr. old man!

Stop calling a 17 year old a child. I was in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne when I was 15. There were many under aged in the military, that got in one way or another. Point is, they were not children. Some even got into the heavy fighting. I even had girlfriends that would, and did, before i was 15 Y'all expect a guy to go through his first ten years of puberty without getting any. The real thing sure beats the crap out of masturbation.

Hey Mike and Phil your argument is sick logic. So becuase other countries send children into war to die in battle, we should allow children to be sexually assaulted, abused and exploited here in America. DUH!

And Phil, if you were in the U.S. Army at 15 YOUR PARENTS had sign a letter giving their permission for you to join. Or else you lied about your age and falsified your Birth Certificate.

Just because you broke the law to do something stupid doesn't mean others should be allowed to!

I agree with Mike and Philip Sunderline. A 17 year old who commits a crime is 100% responsible for his actions. A 17 year old who has sex with someonw who is 16 or 17 is totally responsible for his actions. Yet, a 17 year old chooses to have sex with a teacher, and enjoys having sex with her, and then somehow gets discivered and he is a victim?

At 17, these young men insisted on being allowed freedom to go places and do things. If they took drugs, we wouldn't say the person who sold them the drugs was responsible completely, and if a 17 year old sold drugs he would go to prison as an adult.

Yet, a 17 year old freely enters a sexual relationship with a woman, or man, and he is somehow magically not-responsible because he is an infant?

We love being victims in America, and we love to castiagate and imprison people. the affairs were morally wrong, and proabbly harmful to all parties, but what transpired between the boys and this woman should not be a crime.

The 17 year olds would rightly whelp and yelp if they were denied freedom to associate and act in the world. With freedom comes responsibility.

It is almost silly that people want to relieve 17 year olds from responsibility for their own choices and actions.

Oh God not another Gerry Springer , trailer court drama from Pennsylvania, we are becoming as bad as hillbilly states with our "Classy" stories, between Penn State coaches, pre-school teachers and now highschool teachers molesting kids . It just seems everyone in this state is having sex except me!

Knowing he had sex with an experienced young woman that most likely taught him a few things, is not the worst thing to happen to a 17 yr old. Talk to him about it--but don't be judgemental.

Hey Allen Schroeder, so you would have no problem with your 17 year old daughter getting "experience" on how to perform oral sex from her 25 year old school teacher on a regular basis. Hey it's not the worst thing to learn how to "deep throat" right.

You are one sick person and unfit to be a father.

It's a Woman! Nothing will happen to her. Women always get a slap on the wrist for sex crimes. Society always make excuses for them. Mental problems, depression, emotional trauma, no harm the boy enjoyed it, blah, blah, blah and on an on. And usually ordered to just get counseling or given probation.

No excuses are made when Men commit sex crimes. They are always portrayed as evil lusting predators, a threat to society.and are convicted of a crime and get some jail time.

Our society and Justice System have a Huge Double Standard when sex crimes are committed by women.

Yes there is a double standard because of nauture. She did not "rape" these young men or "sexually abuse" them, she made herself sexually available and they acted upon the invitation. They are not victims the are sexually mature males who had sex with a willing partner. Now because she is a teacher it is inappropriate but she is not a "predator" or a "pedophile"

Hey Kevin, under the LAW she is a criminal. She knew what the law was and violated. Do you make excuses for men who knowing violate the law? Then why are you doing it for this woman? Your attitude is sexist.

Oh come on, she is a teacher at "Bang"or high school!! The name speaks for itself and Gilbert is just mad because no teacher wanted to have sex with him. Those out there saying that the teacher is an authority figure must be stupid. What, is the teacher commanding these 17 year old men to take their pants off?? She forced them into her car with candy and made them meet her at a hotel room or she drove these kids to Walmart against their will?? Please these are dumb men, they knew what they got themselves into, period!!

My thoughts....men/boys must be sexually aroused to have sex. Women on the other hand does not have to be aroused to be raped. Difference???

Sandra. You poor thing you. You must be all of 14 or 15. What you don't know is that men/boys are always sexually aroused, while it is the women who usually has to be sexually aroused. Sometimes mere kissing will do it. And as far a Gilbert Jr goes, that poor soul needs some truth councelling. I never showed a birth certificate, and I was a couple of thousand miles away from home. Mama had nothing to do with it. And Jr, your chances of having a healthy sex life are nil.

This is a difficult story to comment on. I suppose if the teacher looked like the mean ugly teacher in the movie Matilda, I would say that she is a sexual predator. If on the other hand she looks likes the beautiful nice teacher in the movie Matilda, then I would have to determine what are the child's best interest factor.

At 17 they could be charged with rape themselves if they had sex with a 15 year old in some states. 17 is relatively far past the age of consent in some states.

For 200,000 of man's 201,000 years on this planet, Mother Nature decided who was and who wasn't competent to be an "adult." After all, what better defines "adulthood" than the ability not only to bear/father a child but to actually raise that child to its own adulthood----that is, able to put the brontosaurus meat on the table (I don;t think junior stayed home and watched The Flintstones while dear-old-dad hunted for junior's new baby).

So, why are we infantilizing those who have past puberty even though they have all this built-in competence? Well, one reason is that we have also perfected the ability of infantilizing ourselves. Ahh, the onward march of civilization!

I'm sorry but if you're a teacher you are being paid to teach a class and not school young boys in sexual activities. If it were my child I'd want her to be in jail. She is exploiting her position, perhaps she chose the wrong profession and should be employed at a cathouse in Nevada.

Are you kidding me. If everyone who was doing it to younger men were to be ordered to go to a Vegas Cathouse, The Cathouses would extend clear across the country. Stop fooling yourself. Either get it on somewhere, or go back into the bathroom and lock the door.

But if it was a male teacher, there would be a very long list of charges including rape and he'd have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life too. So where's the equality here?
