Patriotic kazoo players hit the streets of historic downtown Nazareth for the eighth annual July 4th Kazoo Parade, which was led by grand marshal Abbe Graber, also known as “Miss G."

"Miss G" has played kazoos for more than 30 years and sells wooden kazoos -- made by her own hands -- through her company, Woodstock Wooden Kazoo.

During a ceremony at Nazareth Borough Council Chambers after the parade, "Miss G" sang a bluesy version of "Summertime," which was made complete with, of course, an instrumental break for some bluesy kazoo playing.

The Dream Kids also provided entertainment, performing a variety of patriotic songs for an equally patriotic crowd.

The Dream Kids is a non-profit organization that raises funds during performances for Dream Come True, a foundation that grants wishes for seriously ill children in the greater Lehigh Valley.

During the singing of a military medley, The Dream Kids invited veterans and active service members to stand with them in front of council chambers.

Some audience members wiped tears from their eyes as they watched men of all ages wave American flags high in the air when the march for their military branch was performed.

Also in attendance were State Reps. Joe Emrick and Marcia Hahn.

"I am one of those people who cry during the National Anthem at ball games," Hahn said. "When I see a group like this, I know our country means so much to a lot of people."

The annual July 4th Kazoo Parade is sponsored by the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce.
