David H. Gower, 84, of Nazareth died Saturday, June 30, 2012.
David H. Gower, 84, of Nazareth, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Moravian Hall Square. He was the husband of Jeanne W. (Weiss) Gower. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2012. Born in Nazareth on Sept. 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Harry and Hilda (Beitel) Gower.
David was an electrical engineer with the former Fuller Co. (now G.A.T.X.) in Bethlehem for 31 and a half years before retiring in 1987. He then worked part time for Hoffmann-La Roche in New Jersey and I.U. #20 in Nazareth.
David was enthusiastic about music, which showed in his participation with the St. John's U.C.C. Church Choir and St. Luke's Singers. He was an active member of his home church, Schoeneck Moravian Church, where he participated in the choir for over 20 years.
He was a member of the Escort Services at St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill.
David was a 1946 graduate of Nazareth Area High School. He earned an electrical engineering degree from Lehigh University in 1955. He served his country during the Korean War as a Private in the National Guard.
Survivors:
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Clemence Gower, and his wife Geraldine of East Stroudsburg, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Gower-Weisner.
Services:
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 6 at Schoeneck Moravian Church, 316 N. Broad St. Ext. Calling Hours will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 5 at the Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 East Center Street. There will also be Calling Hours from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday prior to the services at the church. Rev. Terry L. Folk, Rev. Dr. David H. DeRemer and Rev. Otto Dreydoppel will all co-officiate the services. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Nazareth.
