'Thrilled' Salisbury Board Names Michael Roth as New Superintendent

Salisbury School Board unanimously votes Wednesday night to hire Michael Q. Roth, who worked in the Nazareth Area School District for 17 years, as the district's new superintendent.

After 17 years with the Nazareth Area School District, Michael Q. Roth is leaving to lead a district in Lehigh County.

Roth was officially appointed superintendent of Salisbury Township School District during a special school board meeting Wednesday night.

Roth, 42, was given a five-year contract at a salary of $135,000. His term begins Nov. 1.

Roth replaces Acting Superintendent Louise Beauchemin, who was appointed after Superintendent Robert Gross died May 30. Beauchemin plans to retire later this month.

Board President Russell Giordano said he was "thrilled" to have Roth join the administration.

Roth, who attended the meeting with his wife, Jennifer, and their sons Jacob, 10, and Mitchell, 7, thanked the board and said he looked forward to working in the school district.

Roth has worked in the Nazareth Area School District for 17 years and served the last four years as assistant superintendent for educational programs.

A graduate of Pen Argyl Area High School, Roth earned a bachelor's degree in history at Moravian College and a master's degree at Wilkes University. He received his superintendent letter of eligibility from Lehigh University.

He lives with his family in South Whitehall.
