Nazareth Man's Name Stripped from Penn State Building
Penn State trustees will decide whether to change the name of a child care center that formerly honored Nazareth native Gary Schultz
Penn State trustees will discuss renaming a university child care center formerly dedicated in honor of Nazareth native Gary Schultz, according to a Centre Daily Times report.
A Penn State spokesman said changing the name of the "Gary Schultz Child Care Center at Hort Woods" would be in the interests of families who bring their children there and the general public.
Schultz, a retired senior vice president, and another former administrator were charged with perjury and failure to report abuse in the Jerry Sandusky child rape scandal. Schultz’s name was removed from the center soon after. Schultz maintains his innocence.
Sandusky was convicted in June of abusing 10 boys.
The perjury trial of Schultz and former athletics director Tim Curley is set for January 2013.
