UPDATE: Lower Nazareth Elementary Without Power, Generators Working
Lower Nazareth Elementary School students will remain in class and will be dismissed at normal time.
UPDATE, 12:13 p.m.: Power has been fully restored to Lower Nazareth Elementary School. A downed utility pole on Newburg Road was the reason behind the almost six hours of lost electricity. Thankfully, emergency generators kept the school up and running throughout the school day.
ORIGINAL POST: The power is currently out at Lower Nazareth Elementary School due to a downed utility pole on Newburg Road between Route 191 and Mountain View Road.
Patch has learned that the school's emergency generators are operating and classes are being held. Lunch will still be served.
All students are safe and secure -- dismissal will occur at normal time.

It is so nice to see (hear) that emergency situations can be handled in a calm and efficient manner. Advanced planning (generators) did what it was supposed to do. School personnel did what they were supposed to do. And school students learned several postive and valuable lessons. A little stress, yes. But a positive learning experience for all.

what caused the power outage to begin with? there were also entire neighborhoods without power for almost two hours at around midnight Wednesday.
