Holiday Happenings are Plentiful in Nazareth

In Nazareth, Christmas is in the Air

 

The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Dec. 2 marked the official start of Christmas in Nazareth, but on Saturday, Dec. 11 the holiday festivities really begin.

You may need a clone or two to help you make it to all of these holiday events:

"Start a Family Tradition" - Christmas in Downtown Historic Nazareth

When:  Dec. 11, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
What's Going On?:  Nazareth area businesses will hold events and holiday specials  throughout the day.  Carolers will also be strolling the streets and residents are urged to visit the near-life size manger scene in Center Square.

Christmas Candlelight Walking Tour of Nazareth
Moravian Historical Society, 214 E Center St, Nazareth, PA 18064

When:  Dec. 11, 7:00pm–10:00pm
What's Going On?:  Six historical locations will be a part of the Christmas Candlelight Walking Tour, including:

Whitefield House Museum
- 1740 Gray Cottage
- Music, Christmas Exhibit and more
Nazareth Memorial Library - The Night Before Christmas
Nazareth Moravian Church -  Traditional Lovefeast
Moravian Hall Craft Shop 
- Historical Vignettes
Moravian Hall Square 
- A Victorian Christmas Carol
Holy Family Catholic Church - Celebrating 100 Years & Cookies

Tickets are required and can be purchased at the Whitefield House, the Nazareth Memorial Library, or the Moravian Hall Craft Shop.

51st Annual Nazareth to Bethlehem Christmas Peace Pilgrimage

When:  Dec. 11, All Day Event
What's Going On?:  Join in on a 10-mile pilgrimage from Nazareth to Bethlehem, which is symbolic of the journey of Mary and Joseph. Hymns and caroling will take place at the steps of the Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem and a supper will be held at the Christ United Church of Christ at Market and Center Streets where Nancy Tate, coordinator of LEPOCO Peace Center, will speak.  Her presentation is titled "We Have Only Begun: Reflections on our Work for Peace!"

There are frequent rest stops and relief transportation for those concerned about their ability to complete the walk.

Book Signing – "Moravian Gunmaking of the Revolution"

Christmas at Boulton

When:  Dec. 11, 11:00am–3:00pm
What's Going On?:  Visit the home built by John Joseph Henry for his wife Rebecca, which will be decorated for Christmas in the Victorian Era. See the clothing, enjoy the decorations, and listen to music of the season.

Nazareth Center for the Arts - Holiday House Tour
30 Belvidere Street, Nazareth, PA 18064

When: Dec. 11, 10:00am - 4:00pm
What's Going On?:  The Third Annual Holiday House Tour features nine homes in the Nazareth area, each featuring art, music and holiday décor.

Homes featured this year include:
In Nazareth - Keith and Janet Schlump, Jack Hommer, Ron and Michelle Sibilia
In Bushkill Township - Barry and Mary Pritchard, Jim and Kelly Karch, Jake Seipel and Linda Ritter Shivek, Karl and Kathee Butz, Tyrone and Laurie Klump
In Stockertown - Ronald and Anita Smith

The artwork of Narda Zimmerman will be featured at the Center all day.
